Knowing this Colorado author was a favorite of Emily's, I wanted to give her a try.  This piece of historical fiction takes place in the early 1900's of Colorado, but dives back in time to visit back east during the Civil War era.  I was swept away in just the first few sentences.  The characters were riveting, the setting in Colorado delightfully familiar, and the story gripping. I love the author's effort in writing dialogue that is appropriate for the time period; it gives her writing a genuine tone.  I can't wait to try more of Sandra Dallas!
