Local Writer Gives Book Talk and Book Signing
Local author Martin J Smith invites everyone to join him in launching his latest book, “Mr. Las Vegas Has a Bad Knee," on November 9th at 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. This is a collection of journalistic essays spanning thirty years as a writer in the American Southwest.
David L. Ulin author of Writing Los Angeles: A Literary Anthology, which won a California Book Award writes of Mr. Las Vegas, “The American Southwest, which is the landscape that Smith travels in these writings, is as it has ever been: a template, raw fodder for our nightmares and our dreams.”
Martin is a journalist, magazine editor and winner of more than fifty newspapers and magazine writing awards. He is the former senior editor of the Los Angeles Times magazine and Orange Coast, the magazine of Orange County, he’s the author of five critically acclaimed suspense thrillers and three nonfiction books, including The Wild Duck Chase, upon which the 2016 documentary film The Million Dollar Duck is based. He lives in Granby, Colorado and facilitates writing workshops as part of the Grand County Community of Writers group.
