Marcus arrived in Grand County in 1977 and grew up in Hot Sulphur Springs. He graduated from Middle Park High School in 1992 and began dating his beautiful wife, Connie, their senior year. After that, Marcus spent two years attending Fort Lewis College and then transferred to Colorado State University where he completed a Bachelors of Mechanical Engineering degree. A week later, he and Connie were married, and a week after that he began working on his Master’s Degree. Over the next 10 years, Marcus graduated with a Masters of Engineering from CSU, had two wonderful kiddos (Caitlin & Dakota), and spent countless hours playing drums in various bands.
As a career, Marcus worked for Hach Company beginning in Injection Molding, moving to Manufacturing Engineering, Area Manager, and finishing as a Global Product Manager. Marcus likens his experience working as a Global Product Manager to being the CEO of a $20M product line… but with no direct reports! So he learned to form relationships, manage projects, and handle all aspects of his products from cradle to grave including continuous improvement, product development, project management, pricing, financials, budgets, sales training, and marketing. Additionally, Marcus became an expert in the Danaher Business Systems specializing in lean manufacturing, process improvement, quality, and policy deployment.
In 2007, Marcus and his family returned to Grand County so their kids could enjoy all the benefits of living in a safe community and attending outstanding schools. In 2008, Marcus fulfilled a lifelong dream and started several businesses of his own. While these were growing, Marcus worked for several companies as well as for Grand County Planning & Zoning before he was finally able to call it quits and focus primarily on running Aspen Grove Caretaking & Cleans, LLC and Grand County Lodging, LLC. Marcus now enjoys chasing his kids to their various events while continuing to build these businesses.
Marcus became a GCLD Trustee in October 2016 and is also a board member for Grand County Planning Commission, Grand County Board of Adjustment, and has various responsibilities with the Grand County Republicans. It is his desire to use his business background to help support the GCLD continue to bring the best and most relevant services to the residents of Grand County both now and into the future!
