Mike is a retired public finance lawyer who lives in Tabernash.  During his 43-year legal career, he represented a wide variety of Colorado governments, including the state, counties, municipalities, school districts, library districts and other special purpose districts and authorities. Mike is a member of the boards of the Colorado Middle-Income Housing Authority and the Fraser River Valley Housing Partnership (authorities that build workforce housing, the former across that state and the latter in the Fraser River Valley), is a member of the board and co-director of downhill skiing for the Winter Park Skimeisters and serves on a committee that monitors and makes recommendations to the Colorado legislature regarding the Colorado public employees retirement association. Mike also has served on the boards of a number of other governmental and nonprofit organizations, including the Denver School Board and the Colorado Association of School Boards. Mike and his wife, Carol Friesen, are parents of three 20-somethings who live far away from Grand County but who (not frequently enough) visit to ski, hike and make gigantic messes in the kitchen.
